My girlfriend went ballistic after I got into a car park showdown with that loudmouth Adeleye

God. Nothing quite like getting your ear chewed off by your girlfriend after nearly coming to blows with a rival boxer and his ridiculous entourage in a Birmingham car park.

That's exactly what happened to me last month when David Adeleye - you know the type, all mouth and designer tracksuit - decided to start running his mouth at an event we were both attending. The whole thing was just... stupid. We had words inside, then took it outside like men are supposed to do. Or at least that was teh plan.

Ten minutes of my life I'll never get back

So there I am, standing in this dimly lit car park behind the venue. Just me. Alone. Meanwhile, Adeleye rolls up with his two sidekicks - one looking like Eddie Murphy in The Nutty Professor and the other one... honestly no idea who he thinks he is. Might be his brother? Don't care enough to find out.

For TEN WHOLE MINUTES they're just chattering away, talking absolute rubbish while I'm standing there wondering if anything's actually gonna happen. Nothing did.

Danni-Leigh eventually wandered out looking for me, took one look at the situation and just said, "This is embarrassing." She was right.

When your girlfriend makes you feel like you're 12 again

The drive home was... tense. Danni-Leigh doesn't usually get properly angry with me, but she was fuming. "You're a grown man with two kids, not some teenager behind the bike sheds," she kept saying. Hard to argue with that logic when you're 33 years old and you've just been in a parking lot standoff that ended with precisely zero action.

I felt stupid.

That KO still haunts me

Look, I'm not gonna pretend October didn't happen. Getting knocked out by Wardley after our draw was a bitter pill. Seven months of preparation, training my arse off, and then lights out. Boxing's cruel like that - like being invited to a party and then getting thrown out before you've even had a drink.

My coach called me at 3am the next morning just to check I wasn't spiraling. Good man.

Why is Adeleye even still relevant?

The thing about Adeleye is he's just knocked out Tshikeva, but everyone knows that fight needs running back. The ref literally called "break" before he landed the knockout blow! Back in 2018 when I was still on the GB squad, we had strict rules about that kind of thing - you'd get thrown out of sparring for less.

I spent $400 on tickets to watch that fight in person. What a waste.

Country boy with city-sized ambitions

They love calling me "country boy" like it's some kind of insult. His response: "Clarke's just a farmer who got lucky."

Listen. These people have no idea what farmers are made of. If it really came down to it and you ended up blindfolded in a barn with a bunch of pigs... well, let's just say the farmer's the one walking out.

Working as a bouncer for those years taught me one thing - the loudest ones in the room are usually the ones with the least to back it up. All bark, no bite. Or as my old man would say, "empty vessels make the most noise."

The fight I ACTUALLY want

I wish them both well in their rematch. Professional courtesy and all that.

But Adeleye is the one I'd genuinely love to fight. Not just for the payday (though my mortgage would appreciate it). I want to hurt him. Properly hurt him. Put him in his place.

My trainer thinks I'm obsessing... maybe I am. But some people just need teaching a lesson.

Boxing's a funny old game. One minute you're Olympic captain, next you're having car park confrontations that end with your girlfriend telling you off. Full circle, I guess.
